Gutter repair in Lexington, KY
Leaking seams and corners, sagging runs, loose hangers and sections pulling off the house.
Most gutter problems are repairable, and a repair costs far less than a new gutter. The trick is fixing the cause, not just the drip. A corner that leaks because the gutter sags and holds water will leak again a month after it is resealed unless the sag is fixed too.
What we repair
- Leaking seams and corners: old sealant cleaned out, joint resealed, end caps re-set
- Sagging runs: hangers replaced or added, gutter re-pitched toward the downspout
- Gutters pulling away from the house: re-secured into solid wood, with new hangers where the old fasteners have pulled out
- Water sitting in the gutter: slope corrected so it drains instead of ponding
- Overflowing at one spot: often a clogged or too-small downspout, see downspouts
- Small holes and rust spots: patched where the rest of the gutter is sound
When repair is not worth it
If a gutter leaks at most of its seams, is rusted through in several places, or the fascia board behind it has rotted, patching it is throwing good money after bad. We will tell you that plainly and show you what we saw, with photos if you are not up on the ladder with us.
Rotted fascia is worth catching early. It is usually caused by water running behind the gutter or over its edge for a long time, and the gutter cannot be re-hung solidly until the wood is sound.
Winter damage
Freeze and thaw is hard on gutters. A gutter full of wet leaves freezes into a heavy block, and the weight pulls hangers loose and opens seams. Ice dams at the roof edge can push water back under the shingles. Keeping gutters clean going into winter is the best prevention, and late winter is a good time to check for what the ice did.

Questions people ask us
My gutter drips at the corner even when it is not raining. Why?
Water is sitting in the gutter and slowly leaking out of a failed seam. Two problems: the seam needs resealing, and the gutter is not draining, either because of slope or a clog. We fix both.
Can a sagging gutter be fixed, or does it need replacing?
Usually it can be fixed with new hangers and a re-pitch, as long as the gutter itself and the board it hangs on are sound.
