Gutter cleaning in Lexington, KY
Every run cleaned by hand, downspouts flushed, debris bagged and hauled off.
A clean-out is the cheapest thing you can do for your gutters, and the most skipped. Once leaves pack into a gutter they hold water, get heavy, and pull on the hangers. In winter that wet mass can freeze. A clean-out before the cold sets in prevents most of that.
What a clean-out includes
- Debris removed from every gutter run by hand
- Downspouts flushed with water to confirm they drain, and cleared if they do not
- Debris bagged and taken with us, not dumped in your beds
- A look at seams, corners, hangers and slope while we are up there
- A short list of anything that needs repair, with no pressure to fix it that day
How often gutters need cleaning
Most homes need it at least twice a year: once after the fall leaf drop and once in late spring after the seeds and flowers come down. Homes right under big oaks, maples or pines often need more, and that is usually when guards start paying for themselves.
If you are cleaning gutters three or four times a year, ask us about gutter guards. Every guard job starts with a full clean-out anyway.

Why we flush the downspouts
A gutter can look clean from the top and still back up if the downspout is packed. The elbow at the bottom and the bend at the top are the usual choke points. Running water through each one is the only way to know it drains. If it does not, we clear it, and if it is crushed or split we will tell you. See downspout repair.
Doing it yourself
Plenty of people clean their own gutters on a one-story house, and that is fine. Use a ladder rated for your weight, keep three points of contact, never lean a ladder against the gutter itself, and stay off a wet roof. Two-story gutters are where most people decide to call someone.
Questions people ask us
When is the best time to schedule a cleaning?
After most of the leaves are down, which in Central Kentucky is usually late November into early December. If you have pin oaks that hold leaves into winter, a second visit later in the winter can make sense.
Do I need to be home?
Not usually. We need access to all sides of the house, so leave any gates unlocked and tell us about pets in the yard.
Will you clean gutters that already have guards on them?
Yes. Some guards lift off for cleaning and some are cleaned from on top. Tell us what you have when you call.
